We hear your cry for help in the battle against alcoholism, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, seeking God’s deliverance and healing. The grip of addiction is strong, but the power of our Lord Jesus Christ is stronger still. We rebuke the spirit of bondage that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy in your life, and we declare freedom in the name of Jesus.
The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Alcoholism defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we must treat this struggle with the seriousness it deserves. It is not merely a habit—it is a spiritual battle, and victory comes through surrender to Christ.
We also recognize that addiction often stems from deeper wounds—pain, loneliness, or unresolved trauma. The enemy exploits these vulnerabilities to keep you in chains. But Jesus came to bind up the brokenhearted and set the captives free (Isaiah 61:1). We pray that He would reveal the root of this struggle and heal you from the inside out.
If you have not yet fully surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so now. There is no victory apart from Him. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Salvation is the first step toward true freedom. If you have already given your life to Christ, we encourage you to renew your commitment to Him daily, seeking His strength in moments of weakness.
We also advise you to seek godly accountability. Proverbs 27:17 tells us, "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance." Surround yourself with believers who will pray for you, encourage you, and hold you accountable. Consider joining a biblical recovery program or a small group where you can find support and truth.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who is struggling with alcoholism. Lord, You see the chains that bind them, and You alone have the power to break them. We ask for Your deliverance and healing to flood their mind, body, and spirit. Father, reveal any areas of their heart that need Your touch—any pain, any lie from the enemy, any sin that has taken root. Cleanse them by the blood of Jesus and fill them with Your Holy Spirit.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name. We declare that this bondage has no power over them because they belong to You. Strengthen them in their moments of weakness, and remind them that Your grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9). Help them to flee from temptation and to run to You instead.
Father, we pray for godly community to surround them—believers who will walk with them, pray for them, and hold them accountable. Provide them with the resources and support they need to walk in freedom. And Lord, if there is any unconfessed sin in their life, bring it to light so they can repent and receive Your forgiveness.
We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We trust in Your promise that if the Son sets us free, we are free indeed (John 8:36). May this dear one experience the fullness of that freedom and walk in the newness of life You have promised.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Do not lose heart, dear one. The road to freedom may be difficult, but it is worth it. Every step you take toward Jesus is a step away from bondage. Keep pressing into Him, and remember that His strength is made perfect in your weakness. We are standing with you in prayer, believing that God will do a mighty work in your life.
