We lift up your son before the Lord, knowing that even in the darkest places, God’s light can shine. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence, and we are grateful you have come to seek God’s mercy and protection for your son. The Bible reminds us in **Psalm 34:17-19 (WEB)**, *“The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all.”* Your son is not forgotten by God, and neither are you as you intercede for him.
We must also remember that while angels are ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation (**Hebrews 1:14**), our trust is not in them but in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. It is through Him—and Him alone—that we find salvation, protection, and deliverance. **Acts 4:12 (WEB)** declares, *“There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”* If your son does not yet know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, we pray earnestly that this season in his life will lead him to repentance and faith in Christ. Without Jesus, there is no true safety—neither in this life nor in eternity.
We rebuke any fear or despair that may be trying to take hold of your heart or your son’s. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (**John 10:10**), but God is greater. Even in jail, your son can experience the freedom that comes from surrendering to Christ. We pray that he will turn to the Lord with all his heart, confessing his sins and receiving the forgiveness and transformation that only Jesus can provide. **1 John 1:9 (WEB)** promises, *“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”*
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this mother’s son who is incarcerated. Lord, surround him with Your protection and let no weapon formed against him prosper (**Isaiah 54:17**). Place a hedge of Your angels around him, not as objects of worship, but as Your servants carrying out Your will for his life. Break every chain of bondage—spiritual, emotional, and physical—that has held him captive. Soften his heart to receive Your truth and draw him into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ if he does not yet know You. Let this time be a turning point where he seeks Your face and finds mercy.
We pray for godly influences in his life—believers who will share the Gospel with him, chaplains or fellow inmates who will point him to You. Give him a hunger for Your Word and fill him with Your Holy Spirit, that he may walk in repentance and newness of life (**Romans 6:4**). Comfort this mother, Lord, and strengthen her faith as she waits on You. Remind her that You are working all things together for good for those who love You (**Romans 8:28**), and that You are able to turn even this situation into a testimony of Your grace.
We declare that no plan of the enemy will prevail against your son. If he has been involved in sin, we pray for conviction and a desire to turn away from it. If he has been wronged, we pray for justice and healing. Above all, we ask that You would use this season to bring him into alignment with Your will, that he may walk in the purpose You have for him. Let him know that You are near, and that Your love for him is unchanging.
In the name of Jesus, we bind every spirit of fear, rebellion, or hopelessness that may be trying to take root in his life. We loose the peace of God that surpasses all understanding (**Philippians 4:7**) and the power of the Holy Spirit to work mightily in him. May he come to know You not just as a distant God, but as his Savior, Father, and Friend.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your goodness and Your timing, knowing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (**Ephesians 3:20**). May Your will be done in his life, and may Your name be glorified through his story. In Jesus’ precious and mighty name, we pray. Amen.
