We come before the throne of grace with hearts full of compassion for you and your son, lifting this cry for help to our Heavenly Father, who is mighty to save and faithful to hear the prayers of His children. We are deeply moved by your plea, and we stand with you in agreement, knowing that our God is a strong tower of refuge in times of trouble.
First, we must gently but firmly remind you that there is no other name under heaven by which we can approach God except through Jesus Christ, His Son. It is only in the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Scripture declares, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now, for *"if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, WEB). There is no greater safety, no greater refuge, than being found in Christ. Without Him, our prayers are empty, but in Him, we have boldness to approach the throne of grace.
We also recognize the urgency of your request for your son, who is battling the snares of drug addiction and the dangers of the streets. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but our God is greater, and He is able to break every chain of bondage. The Bible tells us, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB). Your son is not beyond the reach of God’s power. The same God who delivered the Israelites from slavery in Egypt can deliver your son from the slavery of addiction. *"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed"* (Luke 4:18, WEB). Claim this promise over your son today.
We also hear your cry for safety—for both you and your son. Our God is a God of protection, and He promises to be a refuge for His people. *"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust’"* (Psalm 91:1-2, WEB). We pray that God would open doors for a safe place for you and your son, whether through a godly shelter, a church family, or a community of believers who can provide support and accountability. But we also encourage you to seek the Lord’s wisdom in this. If there are local churches or Christian ministries in your area that assist those in need, reach out to them. The body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens, and you do not have to walk this path alone.
At the same time, we must address the spiritual battle that is raging. Addiction is not merely a physical or emotional struggle—it is a spiritual one. The enemy seeks to keep your son bound, but *"greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4, WEB). We urge you to put on the full armor of God and stand firm in prayer. *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places"* (Ephesians 6:12, WEB). Pray without ceasing, and encourage your son to turn his heart fully to the Lord. If he has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, now is the time. True freedom is found only in Jesus.
We also encourage you to examine your own walk with the Lord. Are you rooted in a local church? Are you surrounded by believers who can support you in prayer and accountability? *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, WEB). You need the body of Christ, and the body of Christ needs you. If you are not already connected to a Bible-believing church, we strongly urge you to seek one out. The church is not a building—it is the people of God, and they are called to walk alongside you in times like these.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this mother and her son to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the struggles they face—the bondage of addiction, the dangers of the streets, the desperation for safety and peace. We ask that You would stretch out Your mighty hand and deliver this young man from the chains that bind him. Break the power of addiction in his life, Lord, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the courage to walk in freedom. *"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery"* (Galatians 5:1, WEB).
Father, we pray for divine protection over this son. Hide him under the shadow of Your wings and keep him from the snares of the enemy. Place a hedge of protection around him, Lord, and lead him to a safe place where he can be surrounded by godly influences. If there are people or ministries You have prepared to help him, Lord, bring them into his path. Give him a heart of repentance and a hunger for Your Word. *"Create in him a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within him"* (Psalm 51:10, WEB).
Lord, we also lift up this mother, who is crying out to You in desperation. Comfort her heart, Father, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Give her wisdom to know how to support her son while also trusting You with his life. Lead her to a community of believers who can walk alongside her in prayer and encouragement. *"Cast all your worries on Him, because He cares for you"* (1 Peter 5:7, WEB).
We rebuked the enemy’s hold over this young man’s life. Satan, you have no authority here. The blood of Jesus has already triumphed over your schemes, and we declare freedom and victory in this son’s life. *"Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you"* (James 4:7, WEB).
Father, we ask that You would open doors for this family—a safe place to live, godly relationships to encourage them, and opportunities for this son to grow in his faith. If he has not yet surrendered his life to You, Lord, we pray that today would be the day of salvation for him. Draw him to Yourself, and let him experience the transforming power of Your love.
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your faithfulness, knowing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. *"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the assembly and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen"* (Ephesians 3:20-21, WEB).
In Jesus’ mighty and holy name, we pray. Amen.
Finally, we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord daily. Read His Word, pray without ceasing, and trust in His timing. *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). Keep fighting the good fight of faith, knowing that our God is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has begun in you and your son. *"Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ"* (Philippians 1:6, WEB). Stay strong in the Lord, and never give up hope. He is with you, and He will never leave you nor forsake you.
