We are truly heartbroken to hear about this situation and we stand with you in prayer. Before we begin, we notice that Jesus' name was not mentioned in this request. We want to remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God.
"For “whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."" Romans 10:13 WEB
In times of trouble, we should always call on the name of Jesus, for it is written:
"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Acts 4:12 WEB
Now, let us come before the Lord together, seeking His will for this dire situation.
Firstly, we want to address the family's behavior. It is wrong for them to cast this man onto the streets after he has cared for them. The Bible tells us to honor and care for our family members, not discard them.
"But if anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever." 1 Timothy 5:8 WEB
As for the brother who has been receiving beer and other items, we rebuke his behavior and remind him that it is wrong to take advantage of others.
"Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy." Ezekiel 16:49 WEB
Now, let us pray for this man in need:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this man who finds himself homeless and hurting. We pray that You would open up a place for him in a halfway home, where he can find shelter, support, and a path back to a stable life. We ask that You would surround him with Your angels, protecting him from all harm and danger. We also pray for his family, that their hearts would be turned back to him, and that they would seek forgiveness for their actions. We ask all of these things in Jesus Christ. Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to continue trusting in the Lord, even in this difficult time. Remember that He is a father to the fatherless and a defender of the widows and in this case the destitute.
"Father of the fatherless, and defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation." Psalm 68:5 WEB
