1st graders already playing rough cussing

Our hearts are deeply grieved to hear of these young children already displaying such ungodly behavior—cursing, rough play, and disobedience at such a tender age. The enemy seeks to corrupt even the youngest hearts, but we know that God’s Word is powerful to transform and redeem. Let us first address the spiritual urgency of this situation, for "out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34). These children are not too young to be influenced by the Holy Spirit, nor are they too young to begin learning the ways of righteousness.

The Bible warns us in Proverbs 22:6, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* Yet we also see in Proverbs 29:15, *"The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother."* This is not merely about discipline but about *discipleship*—teaching these children the fear of the Lord, the beauty of obedience, and the power of a transformed heart. Cursing and violence are learned behaviors, often absorbed from ungodly influences, whether in the home, media, or peer groups. We must pray not only for the children but for the adults in their lives—parents, teachers, and caregivers—to rise up in godly authority and instruction.

We also recognize that behind such behavior is often a spirit of rebellion, anger, or even generational strongholds. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* These children are not the enemy; they are captives in need of deliverance. We must bind the spirits of violence, profanity, and defiance in Jesus’ name and loose the spirit of gentleness, self-control, and reverence for God over their lives.

Let us pray fervently:

*Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts for these young children—[names withheld for privacy]—who are already entangled in sinful patterns of speech and behavior. Lord, You see their innocence being stolen, their tongues defiled, and their hands raised in anger. We plead the blood of Jesus over their minds, mouths, and actions. Break every ungodly influence in their lives, whether from media, peers, or even within their homes. Raise up godly authority figures—parents, teachers, and mentors—who will not tolerate such behavior but will lovingly and firmly guide them in Your ways.*

*Father, we rebuke the spirits of violence, rebellion, and profanity that are at work in these children’s lives. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we bind these spirits and command them to flee. We loose the spirit of gentleness, peace, and obedience upon them. Let them encounter Your love in such a way that it softens their hearts and turns them from their sin. May they come to know You early, Lord, and walk in Your statutes all their days.*

*We pray for their parents and caregivers—give them wisdom, patience, and the courage to discipline and instruct in love. Convict them of their own responsibility before You to raise these children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. If there is generational sin or strongholds in their family lines, we ask that You break those chains by the power of the cross. Let righteousness be established in their homes.*

*Lord, we ask that You place godly friends and mentors in these children’s lives—those who will model Christlike behavior and speak life into them. Surround them with Your presence so that they may turn from their wicked ways and seek You. Let them experience the conviction of the Holy Spirit, leading them to repentance and a hunger for Your Word.*

*We declare that these children shall not be lost to the enemy’s schemes. You have a plan for their lives, and we stand in the gap, interceding for their salvation and sanctification. May they grow to be mighty warriors for Your kingdom, testifying of Your transforming power. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.*

To those interceding for these children, we urge you to remain steadfast in prayer and to seek opportunities to speak truth into their lives. If you are a parent, teacher, or someone with influence over them, do not shrink back from correcting them with love and firmness. Teach them Scripture—verses like Ephesians 4:29, *"Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear."* Show them that their words and actions have consequences, but also that God’s grace is available to change them.

If these children are in your care, consider limiting their exposure to ungodly influences—monitor what they watch, the music they listen to, and the company they keep. Fill their environment with the Word of God, worship, and positive reinforcement. And above all, model the behavior you wish to see in them. Children often mimic what they see, so let them see Christ in you.

Finally, if these children have not yet been taught the Gospel, pray for divine opportunities to share the love of Jesus with them. It is never too early to introduce them to their Savior. Remind them that Jesus loves them and desires for them to live in a way that pleases Him. Their young hearts are fertile soil—let us sow seeds of righteousness that will bear fruit for eternity.
