Jesus came for all mankind, both Jew and Gentile, but in a special way to those who seek Him. The shepherds represent people who get the light of God from heaven and run to Jesus. Simeon illustrates the role of the Holy Spirit in any seeking, God's providential timing, and the assurance that no one who seeks Christ dies without Christ.
