My father for fathers' day.

I would like to ask you to pray for my father, as this will be a very difficult father's day for him, as it also would have been my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Last year they celebrated their 49th and she passed away on Aug. 2nd. He is going through a lot right now, time is healing the wounds, but this will be the first anniversary without her, and for it to have been their golden one, it will be really rough for him.

They married young, she was 16 and he was 17, so he is still young at 67. I just pray for him to be touched by our Father, and to be granted the peace of His presence in his life.

Father, I thank You for this man, who You chose to be my father. I lift him in prayer today, and ask for Your mercy and grace in his life. For reasons known only to You, he is facing this anniversary alone, and I ask that He would be strengthened by You as he faces this. I thank You for the years they had together, and I praise You for the commitment they had for one another. Lord, I thank You for having them be my parents, and I praise You for the love that flows through this family. Bring us all ever closer to You, and to one another. May our days be filled with praise, good memories, and devotion to You. As I say this prayer for him, could I also ask that You tell my mother that we are thinking of her as this day approaches, and send our love. In Jesus' name, Amen.

May he receive deep peace from You and greater heart knowledge that all is well because You are there and this precious and cherished being who shared his existence here on earth is now with You. Loving Father, Gracious God - thank You for the deep and precious bonds of family. Thank You for the special ways in which our parents shape our lives and instill our core values. I praise You for the Godly mother and father You gave to Harold, and I especially ask that You would gently caress Harold's father at this time. It is such a bittersweet time, Lord. A day set aside to honor our fathers, yet a time when the loss of such a beautiful and special mother intensifies. Please allow Your greatest measure of comfort and peace to flow into these lives. May they be able to reflect with much joy upon the days spent together and the eternity together yet to come. Though the separation feels so deep right now, help them see in the grand perspective it is for a short time. I praise You for the parents of Harold; for their years together; for the love evidenced for Harold; for the model of marriage and example they set. I ask that you lighten the heart of Harold's father, allowing him to see and feel Your presence through the sadness in his heart. Help Harold's dad to turn around this anniversary date and instead of it being sad, may he use it as a time for celebration. May he invite the family to be with him and share their memories of his wife and their mother. May he rejoice knowing she will be waiting for hiim in heaven where they will spend eternity together and all the tears will be wiped away. Praise you, Lord. I just ask you to put your arms around this family and draw them to you. May you ease dad's pain and suffering on this special day.

May he have a new song for this day. Fill his heart with peace, Lord. Be with Harold and help him to be strong for his dad and the rest of the family. It will be hard but with you by their side, they will get through the day.
